although it doesn’t give any more clarity to the meaning of the song, i believe, or what it sounds most like is “your ohms the sweetest thing inside of you” which is some sort of measurement of electricity. who knows
I think you should review the latest Anna von Hausswolff album. It’s been getting these amazing reviews in Sweden (she’s Swedish) and even though Iäm not as in love with it as all the critics it would be fun to see what you think of it, mr Fantano
Holy shit is this track amazing. Although I would not really compare t jam b/c I feels like nothing they do post-pavilion could b like pre-pavilion .
But, if I did have t compare this t any trak on strawberry , n this is stretch mind u, it would have t b chores. Simply b/c of the chanting n what not at the beg of the trak
This would sound amazing live….lelelelelelet’s go to the Hollywood bowwwwwwwl
1. I cannot believe you didn’t mention calypso. All of AC’s synth patches from their recent live shows have a calypso organ sound they’ve never really used before. Also, many of the filter sweep and high pass filter samples are pretty similar to the stuff I hear coming from soca mixes and such. For all I know that’s where they picked up the rhythmic staccato vocals.
2. The stutter has been really popular lately. Dr.Luke’s been dumping it into Ke$ha and Katy Perry stuff. It’s in the air. I’m not surprised they went for it. I remember one of the bonus tracks for Feels had this sample of the word “warning” that was just repeated with Steve Reich-type increasing tape delay for a while. Sort of had the same feel (pardon the pun) as this stutter hook. Though you’re right, as far as a non-sampled vocal part it is unprecedented as far as I know.
And I think it was fair to compare it to Strawberry Jam because the vocals are dry. MWPP had pretty reverb drenched vocals, and SJ was almost totally dry. This track’s got dry vocals with what sounds like Koass pad doodling to get the effects.
And the stereo mix of course kicks some serious ass.
What the fuck did I just read…?
im high as fuck
agree it’s either OHM or more likely “om”
I share your barely contained excitement Mr. Fantano. Can’t wait for your full review of the album.
ur welcome fur the mindfuk buddy
