Lamb of God’s sixth studio album is big on aggression, which is to be expected, but it doesn’t exactly bring enough ideas to the table to keep things interesting for me. WATCH THE REVIEW

I’m surprised you didn’t make mention of the drummer (Chris Adler) as he is definitely a standout in group, this particular album, and the genre as a whole as far as being a huge talent and innovative percussionist. He actually managed the band when they started as Burn the Priest and then finally turned over the reigns to those who were more well equipped to manage them. Either way, a “strong 3″ speaks for itself and it’s clearly not your cup of green tea. I liked how you referenced High on Fire, Electric Wizard, and Meshuggah as bands that can provide better distortion, grumble, rhythm, and overall better innovation as compared to what you heard on Resolution. I asked for your honest appraisal and you gave it. I will continue to watch your reviews, as always, and I will send a recommendation when I see fit. If Electric Wizard releases a new album this year I will have to assume you will review it without question. Thanks for the review and keep those horns raised high my friend.

I’m curious what your thoughts are about Sacrament, which is somewhat thought of as their black sheep record. I agree that this album is a little too one-note although it’s still been hitting me pretty well. It’s on par with Wrath.

It’s funny that you flash to Ashes of the Wake in the video–I hold that record to be a contemporary classic, and much of the reason I dislike Resolution comes from how disappointing it is compared to Ashes, which was (I thought ) full of ideas. Most of all, I miss Randy Blythe’s more overtly political lyrics. As alienating as they might be to more right-wing fans of theirs, the political aspect actually gave their songs a real gravitas their peers lack, for the most part.
Hi anthony, long time viewer, first time commenter.. I am on tenderhooks every time i see that you review a metal album, because i know you have a deep love for the heavy musicality that is put into this genre. i respect your vast portfolio of musical analysis, and i love the fact that you are never afraid to go against the grain with your reviews.but what happened. are you a mouthpiece for fucking pitchfork now? i’m sorry, but sometimes i wonder if you retain that pure appreciation for music that made you start reviewing albums in the first place. this is a purely musical album, and you complain for a band for being true to who they are. i understand you look for variety and innovation in the modern music scene, but you sell yourself short in this review. i havent been this fired up for a LoG release since as the palaces burn, and you basically go and call this record uninspired and rehashed? did you stop and think it’s not the band that has lost it’s flavor and it’s you that has lost your taste for the dish that we all know and love that is served by this genre? i know that’s not true, i see it in your voice when you talk about the epic feel of the sound. I feel like you played this review very close to the wall of what you expect your viewers to say about this album. I remember when you reviewed snakes for the divine by high on fire and you still gave that a fucking 8. imean really? you even gave flying lotus cosmogramma an 8…. its an out of 10 scale here remember? i almost feel like you want to appear as visceral and objective as possible when you review albums, and you aim them (especially metal) in a ridiculously askew manner that does an injustice to the hard work that artists put behind them. now i dont mean to rant and of course i respect that it’s your opinion, but i was expecting at LEAST a strong 5 from you on this. as a fan of your reviews, i am heavily disappointed that you didnt give this album the chance it deserves, and i hope with future reviews you stay true to your roots, as lamb of god does so well. listen to this album one more time for me alright? it might not appeal to your taste for out of the box innovation, but sometimes you gotta feed the demon inside of you. after the complete castration of LoG’s music that occured with sacrament and wrath, i expected a more honest review from you on this legendary band.
