A surprisingly dynamic Canadian technical death metal outfit right here: Beyond Creation. The band recently dropped its debut LP on PRC Music, and it’s been getting some pretty positive reviews, and it’s not hard to figure out why. For one, it’s nice to hear stuff like this that doesn’t sound like triggered drums and plastic guitars. The vocals are performed pretty well, but what sticks out as being the most unique to me is the bass. The bass solos on this track, “Omnipresent Perception,” are wild, and I’m pretty sure this dude is playing a fretless. Fretless bass on a death metal track? More please!

Wow, pretty killer!

The drums still sound triggered (possibly even Superior Drummer 2.0 here), they just aren’t really forward in the mix like you would expect from this genre. I can hear it in the snare in particular.
But otherwise, good stuff. Not big into tech death, but this is a lot more natural/real and not overly edited and hyper-crisp. Not bad.

Holy snap, this is great stuff!

I LOVE this. I’m a bass player so catchy and technical bass tendss usually what I look for in almost all my music, but especially in metal where it’s generally pretty diminished. I feel like this is Obscura’s cooler older brother who you’re a little hesitant to talk to since you’ve already been hanging out with Obscura for three albums and this guy only drops in by the house every once in a while, and he’s been into loud music and girls a lot longer than you. Thank you for posting this, I was worried metal was completely dying for me!
