But honestly, Zach Condon’s Beirut has put together two pretty solid full-length records, and this single has mouths–or ears, maybe–watering for a third.

“East Harlem” is the first single to drop from this possible forthcoming LP.

Perhaps review the next preview track – because it’s better.

Wonder why they released another one almost immediately after…. me thinks it might have something to do with the ho-hum reception of this above track.

You ruined my beirut play list on hype machine.
This song didn’t need a critique – it’s just simple and beautiful like all of their music!

    Sorry, Emily.

I actually thought this track was great.

yo Ant I’m not going to listen to this review because of Emily’s comment. The song is great, I’ve listened to it ~15 times today already and I’m completely confident in saying so. The production is stupendous, the horns are utterly whistle-able, and regardless of lyric content (I didn’t actually start paying attention to what they were saying until repeated listens), the vocals are strong and the song makes me happy.

Also, I’ve noticed what you put on other track reviews on this site, “is this track for you? find out”, and every time I read it I don’t like it. It sort of punches the idea of having your own opinion in the face. I could go on about it, but I’m just going to say I don’t like it and you should reconsider attaching it.

    whats the other preview track?

    @ tristan it’s called Goshen

and I listened to the song with your review in mind and I can see where you got unenthusiastic. Personally I think i’m kind of used to it seeing that’s how a lot of Zach’s delivery is on songs (check out some of his live stuff). You’re right though there’s not much of an UMPH in his vocals as some other songs. He seems to be singing just to sing. Don’t get me wrong though i’m a huge beirut fan and I loved the track when I first heard it, but I can see where you’re coming from with the vocals (i mean just compare it to songs like “the flying club cup” or “the penalty”).

This song is so goddamn “meh”.

I know it’s not anything special, but it’s not bad either; it’s definitely easy to listen too, if it’s anything at all. I could really see this making it to some movie or television soundtrack.
