Arctic Monkeys- “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair”

From their forthcoming LP, Suck It and See, England’s Arctic Monkey’s have dropped another track. They’re going a little heavy on the guitars this time around, too. I wish they put as much depth into the lyricism, though. Is this track for you? Find out in this review. Review: Arctic Monkeys- Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause [...]

    I like it. Sick vocals!

  • Nick

I like it I was a big fan of Humbug for some reason don’t really know why

  • Katy

Thank you thank you thank you!
I’ve been looking for someone who agreed with me. I hate how much they’ve changed from the first album.
Some people say is more complicated or elaborate, I just think is really boring :(

  • oliver

Hm.. Doom? I think they just have a bunch of reverb on there.

I agree about the lyrics, but I think you’re way off with the bit about them settling for more straightforward songwriting after “Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m Not”. If anything, it’s the opposite — they’ve moved away from the highly accessible (yet well constructed) pop of their debut and have tried to shed that skin. “Humbug” and “Favourite Worst Nightmare” were loaded with time changes, weird creative flourishes, and a far more complex perspective on songwriting. The tracks from this new album seem like a regression from that to me, expressing a desire to try and win back fans they’ve lost along the way by infusing a simpler, poppier aesthetic for this album.

I’m a big fan of the band, but I’m concerned about these new tracks.

I hate it, since you asked. It’s incredibly bland and you’re absolutely tight, they’ve slowly lost everything that made the first album great. So sad to hear.

  • Mochacker

Well they dont sound like they’re from Sheffield anymore which is a shame.

  • Alex

This song remind me a lot of Humbug album. But this is no a big deal at all. The guitar riff is fine and I’m totally ok with melodic vocals and back-vocals.

  • nat

its nice, but feels a bit shallow

  • K DeSt

    These guys suck

Moar liek ‘We suck, you’ll see”

I dislike the directon that the Arctic Monkeys took. “Whatever People say I am thats what I’m not” is one of my favourite Albums of all time and “Favourite Worst Nightmare” was decent as well. I really loved how “young” they sounded back then. But ever since Alex Turner grew his hair out they switched from their amazing garage-indie sound to mediocre hard-rock. I’m really sad about this.
